Tutorial Disney Princess Cosplay Group : Part 1
Tutorial Princess Belle's dress from Beauty and The Beast =)
Presenting my Belle dress from my Disney Princesses cosplay. =)
Since our Disney Princesses first debuted at Comic Fiesta 2009, a lot of people asked and interested about my dress.
So I think its better to put up Belle's dress tutorial in my blog to share with you guys about how to make this gorgeous dress =)
This dress was made by Misaki. She is my Mulan cosplayer from my Disney Princess group. She made all costumes for my group except Jasmine costume (and one more costume to be finish : Princess Tiana from Princess and The Frog for my lovely Nightress).
All pictures here are credit to my tailor : Misaki =)
Tutorial Belle's dress :
I will explained in two categorizes :
A) Bodice Part
1) Use old newspapers to draw the shape of corset form according to the body measurement.
2) Use a scissor to cut the corset pattern.
3) Lay the yellow cloth down on the paper. And draw back the pattern that you already made on paper previously. The reason we do this method is to ensure that we don't accidentally get pen on the cloth.
4) Corset pattern on the cloth.
5) Cut the pattern on the cloth by using a scissor
6) It will be 3 parts of bodice for the front part and another 4 parts for the back.
7) Now, sew those 7 parts together. And put corset "bone" inside the bodice. There will be 2 corset bone for front part and another 2 for back part.
8) Finished =)
That is the bodice part of the dress.
B) Dress Part
1) Its kinda complicated here. Let me explain in simpler way. Make a drawing draft to create triangular shape or A alphabet's form.
Like in the picture above.
For example, if you see the details in Belle's dress, you can see the dress are consist of 8 parts (8 parts x A shape). So, the waist measurement will need to be divide into 8. For example, my waist is 26 inches so I have to divide into 8..and it will be 3 1/2 inches for each A shape part.
So, here, top is 3 ½ inches. For length cloth is 200 cm (you have to double up your leg measurement). And wide part below on the other hand is 30 cm.
2) Cut the cloth into 8 parts according to A shape that was mentioned above.
3) Misaki and her mom in the process of cutting the A shape patterns. Make sure all 8 parts are same in size.
4) So now, all 8 parts were combined together by sewing it. Small part (waist part) will be on the top while the broad large part will be the lower part of the dress.
Okay, so here is the most important part for Belle's dress.
After sew all 8 parts together (just sew it for straight lines), sew between the parts, by pulling 1cm and sew it. Do it one by one from up to down part. By doing this method, this cloth will have distance of 1 cmm for each parts so it can have equivalent frill or lopp for the dress.
And then, combine the Bodice part and Dress part all together. Finished =)
It takes 6 months for my friend to sew this dress.
Oh ya, although you can have bigger round dress effect by using petticoat, it is better to put 8 meters of white satin cloth with 4 meter of net cloth inside the dress.
Misaki did that for my dress like this :
And the dress will have the round and bigger effect more naturally.
I really really love all costumes made by her. Did you know that I am very very fussy when it comes about my cosplay costume. And she is the only one that can make the dress that I want so details perfectly. I really proud of you Misaki =) Thank you so much~ I really love it <3
Misaki and I will open our Cosplay Online Shop next month that consist of Costume commissions, wigs, accessories and props. I will launch the shop soon =) So if you guys interested to order costume from her, you can contact through me by email : firstname.lastname@example.org and hopefully we can discussed about this more when I open our online shop soon.

Tutorial Disney Princess Cosplay Group : Part 2
Tutorial Princess Belle's hair from Beauty and The Beast =)
For Belle's hair, I just styled it by myself. Although I can buy custom made wig from my wig seller, but I think its better to style it by my own. It is because, custom made wigs are very expensive compare to normal wigs. Summore, not all sellers are capable in wig styling especially when it comes to cosplay wigs.
Princess Belle's hair.
I styled this wig for two times : one is a day before Comic Fiesta and second time is before Malay Mail interview.
So, as you can see after this, there are two models that helped me styling this wig. haha~! EJ helped me lend her head (lol) before CF, while Aina helped me before Malay Mail interview. I really need other people head to style this wig. lol. Thank you EJ and Aina ^_^
Here is my tutorial for my Belle's wig.
I bought normal dark brown curl wig for my Belle. The length is 80 cm.
Firstly, I pulled each side of wig at the back slowly. I curled each part and pinned it like the picture above.
That is my first attempt before CF.
And this picture is my second attempt before Malay Mail interview :
The wig looks better in here.
And just leave that down part (the curl part)
Later, I put brown extension on my wig :
The reason why I use ponytail extension because I want to have bigger and clear bun for my Belle's wig. If I just use my curl wigs, the bun will be very small and not nice.
After that, I tied up the extension nicely to make bun from it.
I used a lot of pins to make this bun nicely. And spent more than 1 hour for this T__T. Its hard to be a perfectionist T_T
Haa..like this. Nice rite? Lol memuji diri sendiri. haha.
And then, before keep the wig inside the plastic wig, make sure you use something round and slim to curl your wig..and keep it inside the plastic together.
This method is use to preserve your curl on the wig for the next day. I used this method frequently cos I didn't like curl my wig by using electric curler. It can damage your wig.
Curl up the wig before put it in the plastic.
The next day, put the yellow ribbon around the bun :
Kak Arden helped me during CF.. hoho. thank you.
So dats it =)
Here my wig from :
1) Front side
2) Back side
Misaki tgk apa itu LOL.
Just in case if you guys curious, why I do not separate my fringe from center like Belle's hair...
Its because, I have big forehead >_<. I already tried to style it exactly like Belle's fringe. But really not look nice for my face. My face type is more rounder, unlike the real Belle's face shape. My principe in cosplay is to make the cosplay more suitable for my face and my figure. I know its great to follow 100% style and way of the character when we cosplay. But for me, what the most important is, for you to look good in that character. There is no use if you copy 100% style of that character but you look bad with it. Try to be more flexible and find the style that look good on you without ruin the character itself =)
I hope you guys can get good tips here for your cosplay. Good luck =)

well.. this is me, making my fairy wings for Tinkerbell cosplay for Comic Fiesta 2009. Actually this is the hardest part of my costume, the rest was pretty easy-just pay for it... my dress, my wig, and i found my shoe easily enuff at Summit,Times Square.
ok, moving on, about my wing. LOL. so i freaked out and rented one. which was ugly. srsly. but i thought something was better than nothing, well, apparently it was the right move since shayang was inspired to make the wing out of..well, socks. urm the first try was a bummer, the wire was too flimsy.. Luckily the day after that, me and shayang went down to NZ (convenient store at Cyberia) and found the perfect wire for Tink's wing's frame. huh. Went home and did the frame within an hour. I drew the outline for the wing on a piece of paper and bent the wire according to the drawing.. Used the flimsy wire to tie the thing together. OMG we are so pros. xD

Tutorial : Pocahontas's necklace
3 days before CF, Gk met mt to discuss about her Pocahontas's necklace. We went to Kajang together to buy stuff for her necklace.
Before that, we went to Cyberjaya to meet twin sisters to solve their wig problems.
That time everyone so rushing with their preparations before CF. Mas and Mara went to Cosplay Shop at Subang to rent wing for Tinkerbell, but the wing really weird. So dat time, Mara convinced her sister to make their own wing for Tinkerbell. For the wigs, I tried to restyle both wigs. Alhamdulillah everything turn up good.
Later, me and Gk went to Gamy Shop to buy materials for her necklace.
Got lots of buttons here. Awesome~
Gk try some of buttons there :
She choose this one :
I helped her and used this white foam to draw the Pocahontas necklace :
And cut the shape by using scissor :
Gk tried to cover the foam by using blue ribbon :
This is just her trial before she put glue it by using double sided tape.
So, this is her end result for her Pocahontas necklace :

Tutorial : Misaki's Disney Costumes
I just want to share some MMS pictures that Misaki sent to me gradually throughout the year 2009. She always update me about her progress in our Disney costumes. hoho.
This costume is the first costume that she made for Disney cosplay group. At first, she just sew Alice costume just like Alice in Wonderland movie (1951 film).
But then, Aina said she want Misaki to do some alteration to her costume because she think that Alice costume just plain compare to other Disney costumes.
She inspired by Kipi's Alice costume :
And asked Misaki to do her Alice dress like Kipi's Alice.
Misaki first attempt to make Alice's apron.
I don't want Aina to copy Kipi's alice version 100%, coz I want the costume still resemble the original dress. So, Misaki did her Apron full with addition of frill at the lower part.
So here is Aina's version of Alice costume =)
I love it so much <3
These are some pictures of my Belle dress (I put most of the pictures in Belle dress tutorial already =) )
Joyce helped me searched for Belle's gold cloth in Kamdar. Mid Valley.
Hehe thank you Joyce ^_^
Its really hard to find same fabric and color again. Nasihatku, beli la kain lebih sikit. Jangan beli cukup2 makan T_T Kang jadi susah mcm ku tercari2 di merata2 cawangan kamdar bila kain tak cukup T_T.
Hoho. This pic was taken after Misaki sew and combine the bodice and dress part together. Hohoho. Ku sgt teruja bila mendapat mms ini.
Misaki bought this fake diamond for my Belle dress :
Diamond2 ini dibelanja oleh Misa xD Haha tima kasih.
Next costume is Snow White.
Snow White's cloths.
First attempt of Snow White's arm cloths.
Snow white's arm dress.
Hoho. Misaki didn't like the outcome of this arms part. She said too big for EJ. But I think its okay...but then a week later, she send me this picture :
Wah~! Really big~! Misaki pakai baju ni pun nampak longgar juga.
There is something wrong with EJ's measurement that she gave to Misaki. Somehow her measurement more bigger than me. Oh tidak2.
Misaki yang juga si cerewet no.2 (selepas ku cerewet no.1) telah buat kembali lengan Snow White dan dress. Dua kali kerja. peh.
Oh ya actually 3 kali kerja. Because before she send me Snow White costume, she redo back Snow White collar. Hoho sgt teliti. Bagus2.
Okay then, Megara costume :
Misaki said she having problem with Megara purple cloth. She cant sew it normally coz the cloth "narrate?" memeri? haha. kain tertarik2 gitu. lol.
After 3 days tried to figure out about it, Misaki finally finished the dress :
This is Tinkerbell's dress in the making :
Next is Ariel's dress
The big challenge for this dress is Ariel's arm part. Very big~
Hoho~ Misaki finished this dress for about 1 weeks :
She said this costume pretty easy than my Belle dress. Lol~!
Aurora's cloth :
She did her Mulan costume for one week. While, Aurora costume she did it 4 days before CF.
Dats all =)
Its a tough and creative year for Misaki and I learned a lot from her regarding costumes making.
I hope this tutorial inspired you to learn more about sewing costume =)
